In a remarkable display of teamwork and efficiency, a 12-foot alligator was safely removed from a ditch along Eagle Drive by Public Works and Animal Control. The operation took place between State Highway 565 and State Highway 146, an area that has seen a few alligator sightings in the past, but none quite like this.
The call about the massive alligator came early in the morning. Residents reported seeing the reptile trapped in a ditch, posing a potential threat to passersby and nearby homes. Animal Control officers were quickly dispatched to assess the situation.
Upon arrival, it became evident that traditional methods would not suffice to relocate such a large alligator. The decision was made to involve Public Works, who brought in their grapple truck to assist with the operation.
Using the grapple truck, the team was able to carefully lift the alligator out of the ditch. Witnesses described the scene as both thrilling and nerve-wracking, with the enormous reptile appearing surprisingly calm as it was hoisted into the air.
The successful rescue garnered significant attention and praise from the community. Social media buzzed with posts and comments from residents who witnessed the event or saw pictures of the alligator being transported.
One local resident commented, “He just chilling in the air like alright, I’m down for an adventure!!” Another user, @ellierosetx, inquired about the specific location of the incident, to which @momobarlow2422 replied, “Between 565 and 146.”
Safety and Awareness
While the rescue was a success, officials are reminding residents to remain vigilant and report any unusual wildlife sightings immediately. Alligators are native to the region, and while they typically avoid human contact, situations like this highlight the importance of community awareness and prompt action.
