CYPRESS, TX – 8.18.2024 – A devastating house fire in the Cypress Mill subdivision has resulted in the deaths of three individuals, prompting a homicide investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO). The fire occurred early this Sunday morning at a residence located in the 14600 block of Plains River, near Cypress Rosehill Road and Highway 290.
Pct. 4 deputies and the Cy-Fair Fire Department responded to a call reporting a house on fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found the home fully engulfed in flames. Despite their success to extinguish the blaze, three individuals were found deceased inside the residence.
Authorities have identified the victims as two women and one man. One victim was discovered downstairs, while the other two were found upstairs. Detectives believe the deceased to be a mother, her son, and the son’s possible significant other.
The HCSO has reported that all three bodies showed signs of trauma, leading investigators to suspect foul play. Additionally, evidence suggests the possible use of an accelerant, further indicating that the fire may have been intentionally set.
The Fire Marshal’s Office, along with HCSO Homicide and Crime Scene Investigators, are currently on scene conducting a thorough investigation.
As this is an ongoing investigation, more information will be provided as it becomes available. Our condolences go out to the family members and friends of the deceased.
