Houston, TX – A tragic accident occurred this afternoon at 8901 Bissonnet St., where a trench collapse claimed the life of one individual.
At approximately 1:52 p.m., the Houston Fire Department (HFD) was dispatched to the location for reports of an unknown collapse. Upon arrival, the first responding unit discovered a trench estimated to be 8 feet deep and 25 feet wide. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the call was immediately upgraded to a Trench Collapse response, prompting additional emergency resources to the scene.

Bystanders were found performing CPR on the victim when HFD personnel arrived. First responders quickly took over life-saving efforts, but despite their swift and dedicated interventions, the victim was pronounced deceased on scene at 2:00 p.m.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collapse, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been notified to assess any potential workplace safety violations.
