March 12th 2025 – Houston firefighters battled a massive three-alarm fire on Wednesday evening at the Tran Law Group building located at 6689 West Sam Houston Parkway South near Bellaire Blvd. The three-story office building, which also houses Metro City Bank, suffered significant damage as flames tore through the structure, leading to a partial collapse.

The fire was first reported around 5:15 p.m., with initial calls indicating that it originated in an electrical panel near a stairwell on the building’s first floor. Houston Fire Department (HFD) crews arrived quickly and attempted an interior attack, but the flames intensified, forcing them to withdraw due to extreme heat and thick smoke on the second floor.
Within 45 minutes, the incident escalated to a third alarm, bringing in over 120 firefighters to battle the blaze. Shifting winds worsened the situation, causing windows to shatter and walls to buckle.
Partial Building Collapse Raises Concerns
By 8:15 p.m., sections of the upper-floor exterior walls collapsed, raising concerns about a full structural failure. Firefighters worked tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading further, but the situation remained critical well into the night.
Emergency crews faced water supply challenges, as hydrants were located an eighth of a mile away, requiring extended hose operations. Additionally, CenterPoint Energy was called in to cut power to the area as a precaution.
No Injuries Reported, Firefighter Treated for Heat Exhaustion
Despite the intensity of the fire, no civilian injuries have been reported. However, one firefighter was treated on-site for heat exhaustion but is expected to recover fully.
Investigation Underway
The HFD Arson Unit is investigating the cause of the fire, with early reports suggesting an electrical malfunction as a possible trigger. Crews are expected to remain on the scene throughout the night, and authorities have advised residents to avoid the area while firefighters work to fully extinguish the blaze.
Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available.
