Outrage in Katy: Taylor High School Accused of Mishandling Assault Incident Involving Student Athletes

Katy, TX — A storm of frustration and heartbreak is growing in the Katy community following what many see as a deeply mishandled incident at Taylor High School. A local parent has taken to social media to express outrage after learning that both students involved in a recent physical altercation were suspended — including the girl who was allegedly attacked and fought back.

According to the post, the boy involved in the incident is reportedly still on the school’s football team and has not faced any meaningful disciplinary action beyond a three-day suspension. The girl, despite being the one who was physically confronted, was given the same punishment for defending herself.

“I have been just sick about this for days,” wrote one parent, who says she grew up with the father of the girl involved. “Taylor HS admin is trying to sweep this under the rug by having these posts removed from Facebook because their response to this incident has been absolutely infuriating.”

The school’s decision to suspend both students equally and allow the boy to continue participating in athletics has sparked outrage from alumni and parents alike, who say Katy ISD has a long history of protecting athletes rather than holding them accountable.

“I have three daughters that went to Taylor, I went to Taylor — KISD has serious issues when it comes to putting athletes on a pedestal,” the post continues. “I don’t care what she said to him — can you imagine being the parent of either of these kids? If this boy does not face a true punishment for this, can you imagine what type of man he will become?”

Community members are calling on others to share the story in hopes of applying public pressure and demanding transparency and justice from school officials. The parent who posted the message says the school’s attempt to silence the conversation is even more disturbing than the initial incident.

“What message is the school sending to the students by 1. Not taking more serious action against this boy and 2. Trying to sweep it under the rug?” the post asks.

As of now, the district has not made a public statement addressing the incident or the accusations of censorship and preferential treatment. Concerned parents and community members are urging others to continue sharing the story to ensure that it does not quietly disappear — and to bring lasting change to how such situations are handled in local schools.

If you’re a parent, student, or community member with information or concerns about this incident, we encourage you to speak out. Our schools should be places of safety, fairness, and accountability — for every student.
