Traders Village Fire

A massive fire broke out at one of Houston’s popular marketplaces in northwest Harris County on Sunday, injuring four people, including a firefighter.

The incident happened at Trader’s Village Flea Market on North Eldridge Parkway. 1 building in the complex was damaged, affecting 24 vendors who operated out of the spaces. A firefighter suffered from smoke inhalation battling the 2-alarm fire.

Thousands of people were said to be in attendance at the market at the time of the fire. Some attendees were trying to take photos of the fire, while others were attempting to help vendors retrieve their belongings. “It was aggravating because they were trying to see if people were OK or still in there. There was a lady crying because it was her stand,” said Noe Martinez, who also works in a nearby stall.

The Cy-Fair Fire Department confirmed that a firefighter and a civilian were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation but are expected to recover fully. One person was taken to the hospital in stable condition, while two others were treated at the scene.
