Houston, TX – A high-ranking officer with the Houston Police Department (HPD) has been arrested and charged with multiple serious offenses. Captain Daryn Blake Edwards, a veteran officer with over 30 years of service, was taken into custody at his home in Galveston County. Authorities have charged him with possession of underage pornographic content and other related offenses.
Law enforcement officials began investigating Edwards after receiving reports that led to concerns about illegal digital content. Authorities allege that evidence linked to underage materials was discovered through electronic communications and forensic analysis.
During the course of the investigation, additional information surfaced, leading to further charges, including allegations of coercive and unlawful behavior. Officials say they are continuing to analyze digital devices as part of their inquiry.
Edwards, who most recently led HPD’s Auto Theft Division, has served in multiple roles throughout his career, including Southwest Patrol, Hobby Airport, and Financial Crimes. Following his arrest, HPD relieved him of duty, and an internal affairs review is now underway.
HPD Chief Troy Finner addressed the situation, stating that the department is fully cooperating with investigators and remains committed to transparency.
