HOUSTON, TX — Late Monday evening, a two-alarm fire tore through several units at the Windchase Hamlet Apartments, located at 3233 Windchase Blvd in west Houston. The blaze prompted a rapid response from the Community Volunteer Fire Department with support from the Houston Fire Department.
Captain Samantha Smith of the Community Volunteer Fire Department confirmed that several apartment units were either destroyed or sustained significant damage in the fire. Fortunately, all residents were safely evacuated, and no civilian injuries were reported.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling the flames and was treated at the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Arson investigators were dispatched to the complex shortly after the flames were extinguished and are working to determine what sparked the blaze.
Crews remained at the scene late into the night conducting cleanup and safety checks. Residents displaced by the fire are being assisted by emergency personnel and local organizations.
