Deadly Shooting at Regency Park Apartments Leaves 18-Year-Old Dead; Investigation Ongoing

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (04.15.2026) — Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday evening at an apartment complex in northwest Harris County.

According to Major Ben Katrib, deputies responded around 6:53 p.m. to a life-in-danger call at Regency Park Apartment Homes, located in the 11300 block of Regency Green Drive near Grant Road and Jones Road. A 911 caller reported that he had shot a man during a physical altercation.

Deputies arrived within minutes, safely detained the suspected shooter, and secured the weapon. Authorities immediately rendered aid to the victim, applying chest seals for gunshot wounds until emergency medical personnel arrived. The victim, identified only as an 18-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the suspected shooter, believed to be a 23-year-old male, remained at the location after the incident. Preliminary information indicates the altercation began inside an apartment belonging to a third individual and later moved into the parking lot, where the shooting occurred. That third individual has also been detained as part of the ongoing investigation.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are continuing to process the scene, canvass for surveillance video, and interview witnesses. Authorities emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. It remains unclear whether any charges will be filed as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers of Houston.
