According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective S. Chettry, the tragedy began with an argument between Vessel and 19-year-old Jomaal Xavierous Carroll. The disagreement quickly escalated, resulting in Carroll allegedly shooting Vessel multiple times before fleeing on foot.
The following day, investigators released surveillance footage of the suspect to the public. Through meticulous investigation, they identified the shooter as Jomaal Xavierous Carroll. On June 11, official charges were filed, and a warrant for Carroll’s arrest was issued.
As of now, Carroll remains at large. The HPD has released a 2023 booking photo and surveillance images from the crime scene in hopes that the public can help locate him.
“We’re urging anyone with information about Jomaal’s whereabouts to come forward,” said an HPD spokesperson. “Your tip could be the key to solving this case and bringing some peace to Roland’s family.”
