Houston, TX – What started as a fight over a gaming console turned deadly last week in Houston’s Fourth Ward. Police are searching for 21-year-old Corey Dontaye James, who is accused of fatally shooting another 21-year-old man and injuring a 56-year-old woman during the altercation.
The confrontation unfolded on Bailey Street near West Gray Street on the evening of January 23. According to witnesses, a dispute escalated between the two men, leading to violence. When the 56-year-old woman tried to step in and defuse the situation, she was caught in the crossfire and wounded.
The injured woman was rushed to a local hospital and is expected to recover. Meanwhile, the family of the 21-year-old victim is left grappling with a senseless loss.

Police say James fled the scene and remains at large. Authorities are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
This tragedy is a stark reminder of how quickly violence can escalate, said a spokesperson for the Houston Police Department said. We are doing everything we can to bring this suspect into custody.
The community is shaken, with many residents calling for increased efforts to address gun violence in the area.
