Man Arrested for Setting Fires at Montgomery County Courthouse and Tax Office

CONROE, TX – A Conroe man has been arrested and charged with felony arson in connection to two fires set at county government buildings late last month.

On May 28, 2025, the Conroe Fire Department responded to two separate fire incidents: one located near the front entrance of the Montgomery County Tax Office at 400 N. San Jacinto Street, and another in the parking garage of the Montgomery County Courthouse at 301 N. Thompson Street.

Following an investigation by the Conroe Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office, both fires were determined to have been intentionally set. Authorities identified  David Allan Martin as the suspect.

Martin was located and taken into custody on June 3, 2025, by Deputy Fire Marshals. According to officials, he provided both a verbal and written confession. He has been charged with Arson – a Second Degree Felony and is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail.

Further details regarding the motive and potential damages have not been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
