3-Alarm Fire Damages North Village Green Condominiums, Dozens Displaced

A major fire broke out Monday night around 9:00 PM at the North Village Green Condominiums on Plaza Verde Drive in Houston’s Greenspoint area, prompting a large multi-alarm response and leaving numerous families displaced. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire inside one of the buildings, and the incident was quickly upgraded from a two-alarm to a three-alarm operation after a firefighter fell through the floor of a unit while conducting a search. A mayday was declared, and crews rapidly mobilized to rescue him. He was safely pulled out and did not suffer any injuries.

Houston Fire Department crews worked through challenging conditions, including strong winds, as they fought to contain the fire. By the time the flames were controlled, at least 18 units had been damaged. Firefighters remained on scene well into the early morning hours extinguishing hot spots and securing the area. No resident injuries were reported.

Multiple families have been displaced as a result of the fire. The American Red Cross has been made available to assist those affected, providing support, temporary lodging, and emergency resources as residents work to recover from the incident.

HFD’s arson investigators are now reviewing the scene to determine the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation.
