Tragic Condo Fire in Southwest Houston Claims Three Young Lives

Southwest Houston, TX — Early Sunday morning, a fire broke out at the Monterra Condominiums on Albacore Drive, leading to the tragic deaths of three juveniles, as confirmed by the Houston Fire Department (HFD).

The emergency call was received at 5:41 a.m. after a passerby noticed flames and smoke coming from one of the condo units and called 911. Firefighters arrived promptly at the scene, deploying at least ten units to combat the blaze.

Inside the affected unit, there were four individuals at the time the fire started. HFD Chief Tom Munoz provided details on the situation: “A 21-year-old male managed to escape the fire. He made multiple attempts to re-enter the unit to rescue the others but was overcome by smoke and flames. He was later transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries and smoke inhalation.”

The identities and ages of the three juveniles who perished have not yet been released. The young man who survived is currently receiving medical care and support. No firefighters were injured during the operation.

The Red Cross has been mobilized to assist the families affected by this tragic event. “Our hearts are heavy with this loss,” Munoz expressed. “Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the victims. We are here to support them in any way we can.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and officials are working diligently to determine what led to this heartbreaking incident. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
