Houston, TX – January 28, 2026 – Harris County Sheriff’s deputies were involved in a shooting incident on Wednesday evening at the 7800 block of Fulton Street, near the Northline Transit Center METRORail platform in North Houston. The incident occurred around 6:30 PM, when deputies were working an extra-duty assignment at the train platform.
According to officials, deputies were contacted by a witness who reported a male exposing himself on a METRORail train. When deputies attempted to detain and arrest the suspect, a physical confrontation occurred. During the struggle, the suspect brandished a knife, injuring one deputy who sustained cuts to the arm. The officer received treatment on scene and is expected to recover.
During the altercation, deputies shot the suspect, who was immediately transported to LBJ Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Law enforcement officials confirmed the suspect had previously been reported for exposing himself on the train, which prompted the deputies’ intervention.
