HOUSTON, TX – A shooting near Wisdom High School on Tuesday afternoon left two students injured and triggered a brief lockdown at the campus. The incident unfolded shortly after school dismissal around 4:47 PM in the 6500 block of Beverly Hill Street, just outside the west Houston school.
According to Houston ISD and the Houston Police Department, the shooting began when a black four-door Chevrolet Tahoe was seen slowly driving eastbound on Beverly Hill Street. The vehicle pulled up to two individuals walking along the street—a 16-year-old male sophomore student and his brother, who is not enrolled at the school. A suspect exited the vehicle and opened fire on the two. As they attempted to flee, the 16-year-old student was struck in the leg.
An 18-year-old female junior student, who was standing farther down the street and not involved in the confrontation, was hit in the shoulder by a stray bullet.
Both students were transported to the hospital. Their conditions have not been officially released, though authorities say both were conscious at the time of transport.
The suspects fled the scene in the black Tahoe, and as of Tuesday evening, they remain at large. Multiple HPD units, including tactical teams and a police helicopter, responded to the scene as part of an active search for the suspects. The school was briefly placed on lockdown as a precaution, though classes had already ended for the day.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information about the suspects to come forward.
“Our top priority is the safety of our students,” HISD officials said in a statement. “
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Houston Police Department or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
